The super blue blood moon last night was a very extraordinary astronomical phenomenon. It is a rare convergence of three celestial events. The second full moon of the calendar month called the blue moon is at a closer point to Earth thus making it appear bigger and shines brighter than usual. This second event is called super moon. The super blue moon passes through the shadow of Earth, a total lunar eclipse, giving it a reddish tint thus giving it the name of blood moon.
Albeit cloudy skies earlier, it became clear later and almost all throughout the duration of this awesome phenomenon. The residents of Bacolod City in the Philippines had a very good view of the super blue blood moon.
Below are images of the super blue blood moon in different stages from 7:35 pm until 9:40 pm. Except for the last picture, all the photos were taken using an Iphone 7. The last picture was captured by a Belgian national who was among the people I watched with in our place.
Till the next astronomical event.
