On Friday the 13th of April 2018, my friends and I had a girls night out. The restaurant of choice was Cafe Uma in its new location in Paseo Verde in Lacson Street, Mandalagan, Bacolod City.

The new Cafe Uma is located at the corner of the east wing going to the north wing before reaching the restrooms. The new site is bigger and more spacious. The interior and lighting design gave the restaurant a homey feel. The use of strings of light bulbs reminded me of Mediterranean cafes.

There is an inner room which can be used for functions or for big groups. I like the decors here. On the wall is a collage of old magazine pages on features about Negros and Bacolod City. On the other wall is a wooden miniature of a steam locomotive. The trains used to transport sugarcane from the Negros farmlands to the sugar centrals. The native basket materials covering the lightings added to the rustic ambiance of this room.

Just like in their previous locations at the Negros Showroom, Capitol Subdivision Building and the smaller area at the south wing of Paseo Verde, the food of Cafe Uma which are mostly Mediterranean are delicious and satisfying as ever. They tickle your palate. Nothing changed except for the better.

My friend who arrived the earliest ordered the food. Being a health buff, we barely had any meat dishes.

For appetizer we had Liver Paté on toast. Unfortunately, I missed to take a photo of it. We also had the Chicken, Vegetable and Pesto Quesadilla which was so good. My friend said that the Crabcake and Chorizo Quesadilla is also very nice but was unfortunately unavailable.

We had the Mediterranean Grilled Chicken for salad which has always been a delish.

The Uma Special Pasta with salmon, pesto and pancetta was a delight.

The Bolognese of Café Uma never fails to satisfy the palate.

For pizza we ordered the Roasted Garlic and Cheese and the Margherita and Pesto. Both were very good. When reheated, the crust is still crunchy.

The serving sizes of the food are huge and can be shared. The prices may be pricier than some restaurants but considering the quality of the dishes and serving sizes, I find them reasonable.

Cafe Uma is a nice place to relax with friends and have delectable food. They are open all days of the week from 11 am until 10 pm. The restaurant tends to be full. Making a reservation is recommended. You may contact them at (034) 709-9966.
